I’ve experienced some setbacks since our site was hacked a few weeks ago. Threedayvegan was on hiatus for a while, and I reverted to my natural state — nodayvegan. In my defense, I was actually eating vegetarian for much of that time (at least three days a week). But clearly dining on salads topped with Halloumi cheese, not to mention vegetarian pizza or omelets, does little to advance the central goal of the the threedayvegan experiment. After all, dairy and eggs still have a detrimental effect on the environment, as you can hear in this interview with NYTimes columnist/amateur cooking guru Mark Bittman here. It’s a bit old, but it’s still good.

Yes, I realize that citing Bittman in your food-related blog is a terrible cliché. The shame! Nonetheless, at the time of the interview by NPR’s Tom Ashbrook (a China hand in his own right), Bittman was promoting a book that advocates a part-time vegan lifestyle, which is right up threedayvegan’s alley.
